Handyman At Your Command offers wallpaper installation in Odenton, Maryland, for one accent wall or a whole room. Our crew hangs wallpaper in bedrooms, dining rooms, living rooms, entryways and home offices. Powder rooms and bathrooms are on the list too. For businesses, we paper walls in shops and offices as part of our commercial handyman work. We also work in Severn, Crofton, Gambrills, Millersville and other nearby Anne Arundel County towns.
Every wallpaper installation starts with a free estimate at your house. We measure the walls and look at their condition, since a flat, smooth wall gives the best result. Holes and cracks get patched before any paper goes up. Then the wallpaper is hung in the standard order, with the pattern lined up at each seam. We are licensed, bonded and insured. We hang wallpaper on a single accent wall or on every wall of a room. An accent wall might be the wall behind a bed or a sofa. A whole room might be a dining room or a powder room. Bigger rooms take more paper. In HomeGuide's room table, a small bathroom or half bath has 110 to 180 square feet of wall surface. An average bedroom has 320 to 480 square feet, and a dining room has 550 to 650. HomeGuide also notes that commercial wallpaper jobs are typically larger and cost more.
The right paper depends on the room. HomeGuide says vinyl is the most popular wallpaper and the best choice for bathrooms and kitchens. Other materials work well for bedrooms and living areas that stay dry. An accent wall can also lower the cost. HomeGuide suggests wallpaper on an accent wall and fresh paint on the remaining walls to reduce the project cost. Our interior painting service covers those other walls. Some rooms pair paper above with wainscoting or chair rail below, and that trim is part of our carpentry work.
Wallpaper looks best on a flat, smooth wall, so prep comes first. Holes and cracks get patched, the same work we do for drywall repair around the house. Wallpaper can go on lightly textured walls. HomeGuide still says to smooth textured walls by skim coating them with joint compound first. Prep may also include sanding or an underliner to smooth the surface. HomeGuide puts underliner installation at $1 to $3 per square foot. Once the wall is smooth, it gets a coat of primer.
The paper then goes up in the standard order. A level is used to draw a plumb line, so the first panel hangs straight. Prepasted paper is dipped in water to activate its paste. Each new panel lines up with the pattern on the one before it. The seams butt tight, edge to edge. A smoother pulled across the paper takes out wrinkles and small air bubbles. The paper is trimmed at the ceiling and the baseboard. Then paste is wiped off its face with a wet sponge. HomeGuide puts wallpaper installation at 1 to 2 days on average.
HomeGuide's cost guide puts professional wallpaper installation at $4 to $10 per square foot. That comes to $400 to $1,000 on average for one 12 by 8 foot wall. Labor runs $3 to $7 per square foot, and some wallpaper installers charge $40 to $80 per hour instead. The paper itself costs $20 to $50 per roll. HomeGuide says a single roll typically covers 28 to 30 square feet. Homewyse's May 2026 national average cost to hang wallpaper starts at $4.99 to $10.53 per square foot.
HomeGuide says wallpapering a room costs $450 to $7,000, depending on its size, type and features. Its room table puts a small bathroom or half bath at $450 to $1,800. An average bedroom runs $1,300 to $4,800, and a dining room runs $2,200 to $6,500. A complex layout costs more, since matching the pattern takes extra cutting. HomeGuide adds that peel and stick vinyl installs the fastest. These are published market ranges, not our price. Great customer service as well as great work quality. I had my fence bent down completely because of a storm and I called handyman at your command immediately. Even though it was after hours I still able to set up a time for someone to fix the fence first thing in the morning. The handyman was prompt and very nice.
I was finally able to get my master bath updated after 20 years of purchasing my home. Jose the owner of the company came out and held our hand from beginning to end. From demo to completion of the project, they always kept our home sparkling and clean which was a big deal for us as our child has respiratory issues.
I've been hiring Handyman At Your Command and working with Tracy for about 8 years now, and have always been completely satisfied and happy with their work. Recently we have had Hugo and Jose come out and they helped to find the source of a roof leak- then they repaired the ceiling drywall, painted, and also did other jobs around the house.
