TV Mounting in Odenton, MD

TV Mounting · Odenton, MD

Mounted level, anchored in the studs, cables out of sight

Handyman At Your Command handles TV mounting in Odenton, Maryland and the surrounding counties. Our techs find the studs, set the bracket level and lag it into solid wood. Then two people lift the screen onto the mount and test it before anyone lets go. We bring the right anchors for drywall, plaster, brick and stone. Cables ride inside the wall through an in-wall rated kit, or inside a slim raceway painted to match. The room looks finished when we leave.

Most calls are a new screen for the living room or bedroom. We also mount TVs above fireplaces, in basements, on covered porches and in waiting rooms and shops through our commercial handyman service. If the old bracket left a row of holes behind, our drywall repair techs patch them on the same visit. The company has served the DMV since 2008. Call (877) 349-4632 and we will set a time.

Mounting on drywall, plaster, brick and stone

Drywall over wood studs is the common case, and the bracket goes straight into the framing with lag bolts. A stud finder gets it close, and a test hole confirms it. Some newer townhomes have metal studs, which call for toggle anchors rated for the weight. Older homes in Annapolis still have plaster and lath. Plaster cracks if you rush it, so we drill slow and back the bracket into the framing behind it.

Brick, stone and block need a hammer drill and masonry anchors. The work takes longer, and the anchor spacing has to match the bracket, so we lay it out twice before drilling. Full-motion arms put real leverage on the wall when the TV is pulled out. On those we use more anchors, not fewer. Every mount gets a pull test at the end, and the TV comes off the wall again only when you want a bigger one.

TV above the fireplace: what to know first

An above-fireplace mount can look clean, but the screen sits high. A tilting or pull-down mount angles the picture back toward the couch and fixes most of the neck strain. Heat is the other question. Gas and electric fireplaces send little heat to TV height. A wood-burning fireplace that runs for hours can push the air above the mantel past what most screens are rated for. We check the surround, the mantel depth and the wall behind it before quoting.

Cables above a fireplace need a path. When the fireplace sits on an interior wall with a stud cavity behind it, the wires drop inside the wall to a plate near the console. Stone surrounds usually route the cables down a mortar line into a painted raceway instead. Power comes through an in-wall power kit or a recessed outlet behind the screen, which is what electrical code calls for. Our electrical repairs service adds that outlet.

What does TV mounting cost?

Published guides put professional TV mounting between $100 and $400 for most homes. Screen size sets the base, since a 75 inch TV needs a heavier bracket and a second person to lift it. Masonry walls, full-motion arms and hidden cables each add to the number. In-wall cable concealment alone runs about $95 to $300 in those guides, depending on how far the wires have to travel. Those are market ranges. Your quote depends on your wall and your TV.

Bundling saves money. A TV mount, a soundbar under it and two floating shelves take one visit and one trip charge. If the TV stand or media center under the screen arrives in a box, our furniture assembly crew can put it together on the same visit. So does mounting screens in three bedrooms on the same afternoon. Maryland does not require a home improvement license for TV mounting on its own, but our company carries one anyway for the patching and painting that often follows. We mount TVs in Odenton, Annapolis, Columbia, Bowie, Gambrills and the DC side of the region. Our carpentry crew builds the media wall if you want the TV framed in.

FAQ

TV Mounting Questions, Answered

Common questions about tv mounting across Odenton & the DMV. Not seeing yours? Call and ask. A person picks up.

Call (877) 349-4632

Can you mount a TV where there are no studs?
Usually, yes. We use rated toggle anchors for smaller screens, or open the wall and add a plywood backer between the studs for a large one. Then the drywall gets patched and painted. The right answer depends on the TV weight and the mount type, so we look first.
Do you hide the cables inside the wall?
Yes. HDMI and other low voltage cables run through an in-wall rated kit from behind the TV to a plate near your console. Power goes through a code-compliant in-wall power kit or a new outlet behind the screen. On brick or stone walls we run a painted raceway instead.
Should I buy the mount or will you bring one?
Either works. If you buy one, check that it fits your screen size, weight and VESA pattern, and we will install it. If you would rather we supply it, we bring a fixed, tilting or full-motion mount to match the room and add it to the estimate.
How long does TV mounting take?
A standard drywall mount takes about an hour, including leveling and cable cleanup. Brick, stone, above-fireplace installs and in-wall cable runs take two to three hours. We give you a time window when we book and text before we arrive.
How much does it cost to mount a TV in Odenton?
Published guides put most jobs between $100 and $400, with hidden cables, masonry walls and very large screens on the higher end. Estimates are free, and a photo of the wall and the TV size usually gets you a price range the same day.

Great customer service as well as great work quality. I had my fence bent down completely because of a storm and I called handyman at your command immediately. Even though it was after hours I still able to set up a time for someone to fix the fence first thing in the morning. The handyman was prompt and very nice.

I was finally able to get my master bath updated after 20 years of purchasing my home. Jose the owner of the company came out and held our hand from beginning to end. From demo to completion of the project, they always kept our home sparkling and clean which was a big deal for us as our child has respiratory issues.

Mine 2uGoogle review

I've been hiring Handyman At Your Command and working with Tracy for about 8 years now, and have always been completely satisfied and happy with their work. Recently we have had Hugo and Jose come out and they helped to find the source of a roof leak- then they repaired the ceiling drywall, painted, and also did other jobs around the house.
