Furniture Assembly in Odenton, MD

Furniture Assembly · Odenton, MD

Boxed furniture built in the room where it stands

Handyman At Your Command offers furniture assembly for homes and offices in Odenton, Maryland. We put together flat-pack furniture, the kind that arrives in a box with its hardware and a manual. That covers bed frames, dressers, desks, bookcases, wardrobes, cribs and patio sets. Office desks and workstations are on the list too. We also work in Severn, Crofton, Gambrills, Millersville and other nearby Anne Arundel County towns.

Every furniture assembly job starts with a free estimate at your house. Show us the boxes, or tell us which pieces are on the way and where each one will stand. Our crew builds each piece where it will be used, then levels it and tests every drawer and door. Tall dressers and bookcases get anchored to the wall. We are licensed, bonded and insured. What We Put Together on a Furniture Assembly Visit

Our crew assembles furniture for bedrooms, living rooms, dining rooms and home offices. In bedrooms, that means bed frames, dressers, nightstands, wardrobes and armoires. In living and dining rooms, it means TV stands, media centers, dining tables and chairs. We also build desks and bookcases, cribs for the nursery and patio sets for outside. Furniture that arrives in a box is one of the everyday small jobs we go out for. Some pieces take far more work than others. A simple dining chair takes much less time than a complex wardrobe or an office desk with shelving and cabinets. Wall shelves and new trim are carpentry, and our carpentry page covers them.

A furniture assembly visit follows the same order each time. We open the boxes in the room where the piece will stand. Then we check every part against the list in the manual. If a part is missing or broken, the retailer is the one to ask for a replacement or refund. Once the piece is built, we level it and test every drawer, door and hinge. Tall pieces get anchored to the wall. A tip for delivery day: check the box for damage, but don't completely unpack it before our crew arrives. Loose parts and instructions can get lost.

Anchoring Dressers and Bookcases to the Wall

Furniture can tip over when a child stands on it or pulls on it. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission runs a campaign called Anchor It! with a plain message. Anchoring all furniture with drawers, doors and shelves to the wall prevents tip-over injuries and deaths. A federal rule to prevent furniture tip-overs took effect on September 1, 2023. It covers dressers and other clothing storage furniture 27 inches or taller made after that date. Those pieces must pass three stability tests and include a tip-over warning and an anchoring kit. The commission still says to anchor dressers, including ones that meet the new standard.

Anchor It! lists the tools for the job: an anchoring kit, a drill, a screwdriver and a stud finder. We attach one bracket to the wall, set into a stud where one lines up. Where none does, the bracket gets the right anchor for that wall. The other bracket goes on the furniture, and a strap connects the two. Then we tighten the strap and tug on it to check that it holds. A TV can tip over too. Mounting the TV on the wall above a new stand is its own job. If you move a dresser later, patching the old anchor holes is a small drywall job.

Office Furniture, Multiple Pieces and Furniture Assembly Cost

We assemble office furniture for businesses as well as homes. That covers desks, shelving, filing cabinets and workstations for offices and shops. Office furniture assembly sits alongside our other handyman services for businesses. Tall shelving and filing cabinets get the same wall anchoring as a dresser at home. Several pieces can also be grouped into one visit. A new bedroom set, a desk and a pair of bookcases can all go on one list. Tell us every piece when you call. One free estimate covers the whole list, and you get a price before work starts.

HomeGuide's 2026 cost guide puts professional furniture assembly at $50 to $550 on average. The size and type of the piece set the price. The guide's cost-by-item table lists a bed frame at $70 to $160 and a dresser at $100 to $350. An armoire or wardrobe runs $150 to $450, and office furniture runs $100 to $1,000. Nearly all of the cost is labor, since the job takes few tools or materials. HomeGuide puts a handyperson at $50 to $80 per hour for furniture assembly. Those are published market ranges, not our price. Your estimate is free and happens at the house. For other small jobs, see what a handyman costs in Maryland.

Call (877) 349-4632

How much does professional furniture assembly cost?
HomeGuide's 2026 cost guide puts professional furniture assembly at $50 to $550 on average. The size and type of the piece move the number. A handyman may charge $50 to $150 for a small chair or bookshelf. Those are published ranges, not our price. Your estimate is free and happens at the house. Call (877) 349-4632 to set one up.
How long does it take to assemble furniture?
Most furniture takes 1 to 4 hours to assemble, according to HomeGuide's cost guide. Where a piece lands in that range depends on its size and type. A simple dining chair goes much faster than a complex wardrobe. For a closer time estimate, give us specific details about each piece when you call (877) 349-4632.
Should I unpack the boxes before you arrive?
No. Check each box for damage when it is delivered, but don't completely unpack it before our crew arrives. Pieces or instructions can get lost once a box is open. If a part arrives broken or missing, contact the retailer for a replacement or refund. We open the boxes in the room where the piece will stand.
Can you anchor a dresser or bookcase to the wall?
Yes. Anchoring tall pieces is part of a furniture assembly visit. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission's Anchor It! campaign says anchoring prevents tip-over injuries and deaths. That goes for any furniture with drawers, doors or shelves. We set the wall bracket into a stud, or use the right anchor for the wall. Then we tighten the strap and tug on it to check that it holds.
Do you assemble office furniture for businesses?
Yes. We assemble desks, shelving, filing cabinets and workstations for offices and shops. HomeGuide's cost guide lists office furniture at $100 to $1,000 to assemble. A large L-shaped desk runs $350 to $550. Those are published ranges, not our price. The estimate is free and happens at your office or shop.
Can you assemble several pieces in one visit?
Yes. Several pieces can be grouped into one visit, such as a bedroom set or a home office setup. List every piece when you call, and one free estimate covers them all. Every piece is leveled and tested, and tall ones get anchored to the wall. Tell us the size of each piece too, since size and type drive the time and the price.

Great customer service as well as great work quality. I had my fence bent down completely because of a storm and I called handyman at your command immediately. Even though it was after hours I still able to set up a time for someone to fix the fence first thing in the morning. The handyman was prompt and very nice.

I was finally able to get my master bath updated after 20 years of purchasing my home. Jose the owner of the company came out and held our hand from beginning to end. From demo to completion of the project, they always kept our home sparkling and clean which was a big deal for us as our child has respiratory issues.

Mine 2uGoogle review

I've been hiring Handyman At Your Command and working with Tracy for about 8 years now, and have always been completely satisfied and happy with their work. Recently we have had Hugo and Jose come out and they helped to find the source of a roof leak- then they repaired the ceiling drywall, painted, and also did other jobs around the house.
